The Lisbon Agenda recognized the real value of education and knowledge in the process of EU economic growth under healthy employment conditions, equality and social inclusion. Education and training systems have to respond to new demands from the labour market, conceive the needs of people (students and parents), predict and follow the demographic trends and ensure value for money of public investment.
EEO undertakes projects at European, National and local level assisting education final beneficiaries to design and implement their actions, assess education and training systems and carries thematic studies on education issues (accreditation, quality, etc). In particular, EEO has carried out projects on upgrading the quality of initial vocational training and vocational educational systems and linking education with the job market, on revision of study programmes and acceleration of the pace of adoption of new technologies.

Technical Assistance to the Managing Authority of the “National System for linking Vocational Education and Training to Employment (ESSEEKA)”: In the framework of this project, EEO was responsible for developing an Action plan for each of ESSEEKA subsystems e.g. the Labour Market Diagnostics, the Initial Vocational Training (IVT), Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET), Continuous Vocational Training (CVT), Accreditation and Career counselling,. In addition EEO designed an Implementation Plan for the ESSEEKA, assisted the public dialogue and organized the dissemination and promotional activities.

Entrepreneurship learning: Promoting the Charter for Small Enterprises in the Western Balkans and Moldova: The aim of the project was to enhance competitiveness in the Western Balkans and Moldova by way of strategic promotion of entrepreneurship learning and enterprise-based skills development as part of wider efforts by the countries to align themselves with the spirit and principles of the European Charter for SMEs. In the framework of this ETF funded project, EEO services focused on partnership building and training for more effective assessment and reporting to the European Commission on Chapters 1 and 4 (education, training and enterprise skills) of the European Charter for Small Enterprises.

Development of an accreditation system for the training of public servants: EEO provided technical assistance to the National Center of Public Administration (NCPA) in Greece for the development of an accreditation system for knowledge and skills of all the public servants who were trained by the NCPA. EEO developed the accreditation methodology, created the Information System which supported it, delivered the accreditation material for more than 12 training thematic fields and assisted the implementation.

Pilgrimage-from Knowledge transfer to autonomous learning: In the framework of this Gruntvig project (EU funded), EEO has undertaken a research concerning the current situation of autonomous learning in Greece. It is currently developing of a toolbox with 18 different examples of didactical approaches in autonomous learning and participating in the promotion and dissemination of results of the project.

Technical Assistance to the Technological Educational Institutes as Final Beneficiaries of the O.P. Education and Vocational Training: EEO provided Technical assistance to Technological Educational Institutes (TEIs) for their participation in the Operational Programme Education and Vocational Training including design, elaboration and submission of Technical Reports, evaluation of proposals and offers, control and monitoring the implementation of projects, preparation of Progress Reports, etc.

Design of the Operational Programme Education and Lifelong Learning 2007-2013. In the framework of this project, EEO supported the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs in the design of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) for the programming period 2007-2013 and in particular the design of Sectoral Operational Programme Education (OP) and Lifelong Learning. The main aims of this OP are to: upgrade the quality of education and promote social integration, to upgrade initial vocational training and vocational educational systems, to reform the education system so that lifelong learning becomes a reality for all and to revise study programmes.
